Heritage Highlands is a master planned golf course community developed by U.S. Home Corporation and located in the Tortilita Mountains north of Tucson, Arizona, offering single family detached homes in the $200,000 price range. The common facilities consist of a country club, sales center and six model homes. Phase 1 of the project involved retrofitting the lighting fixtures in the common faculties, and Phase 2 involved the development of an energy efficient lighting upgrade program for the new home buyers.
Phase 1—the sales center contained over 150 incandescent lamps operating 72 hours per week, and the model homes contained over 300 incandescent lamps operating twenty-four hours per day.

Phase 2 — Lighting upgrades are offered to new home buyers at an average cost of $350. Over the life of the CFL’s the buyer can expect to save an average of $1,800 in the cost of electricity and the cost of replacement of incandescent lamps. The additional cost can be included in the buyer’s mortgage for mere pennies per day while saving dollars. The appropriate lamps are installed by the contractor and carry a one-year full replacement warranty through the local distributor.
